![]() The same team that is currently working on bringing MCC to PC and Halo: Reach to MCC (the 343 Publishing Team) is also the team that helped make Halo Wars 2 a reality. In the petition there are a handful of requests made by the community:Īs awesome as all of these requests are, and as much as we personally share these same desires, the unfortunate reality is that we currently are unable to commit to any future Halo Wars 2 continued development or support at this time. Recently a petition has been shared around in the Halo Wars community that has been signed by over 2,300 players who want a lot of awesome things to happen for Halo Wars 2. It is always awesome to see the passion of fans wanting to see change come to the games they love in a positive manner. In a blog post on the Halo Waypoint forums, 343i explains why they are not adding new content to the strategy game. But it seems the only thing the petition has spawned is an announcement from 343i. Fans of the RTS set in the Halo universe had started a petition requesting the continuation of development. The team responsible for Halo Wars 2 support, the 343i Publishing Team, is hard at work getting Halo Reach in the Master Chief Collection and getting said collection onto PC. 343i has officially announced that there won’t be any new content coming to the game. Junyszek wrapped up his note by saying Halo Wars 2 holds a special place in the team's heart and the studio feels grateful for the support of fans over the years. "Given the broader impact initiatives the studio is already committed to, we unfortunately can't devote the time and attention we’d need to deliver additional updates and content for the Halo Wars franchise." Meanwhile, the majority of the studio is incredibly focused working towards Halo Infinite's launch (and you may have also heard, 'launch is only the beginning')," Junyszek said. "The 343 Publishing team has no shortage of ideas and inspiration to pursue for MCC and plenty of ongoing work to support the Halo franchise. Instead of new content or a sequel for Halo Wars 2, the team at 343 Industries is supporting Halo: The Master Chief Collection, while the majority of the team is focused on finishing Halo Infinite and then working on its post-launch content. Junyszek said Microsoft is backing away from Halo Wars 2 due to time and resources. ![]() We know constantly waiting and wondering is equal parts frustrating and exhausting, so we hope this clarity helps alleviate some of that and we want to set clear expectations that there is no work happening on Halo Wars." "But, we're specifically never going to say never because, well, who knows what the future may bring. "We did use the word 'currently' because it's the truth-as of today, there is no plan for the development team to re-engage with Halo Wars 2 and we aren't working on a new game in the series at this time," Junyszek said. Plans could change, but for now, there will be no more Halo Wars 2 updates and no Halo Wars 3. Junyszek clarified that these are Microsoft's plans right now.
